Job description


For in-house developed solutions, our partners are looking for a J2EE Software Engineer who is able to develop qualitative solutions based on business requirements related to a telecom web-based environment. This person will work within the servicing team accountable mainly for the development of a middle layer application between back-end and web front-end solutions. As a software engineer he will be responsible for the developing qualitative solution upon a microservices platform based on Netflix OSS. The resource will be part of a virtual Devops team that in case of issues can be requested to investigate on defects, stability issues or performance degradation. In all times this person should together with the lead software engineer be responsible for a healthy system in terms of stability and performance.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Build robust, performant and high scalable, flexible solutions
  • Participate to the technical design of the solution based on business requirements gathered and analyzed by team analysts.
  • Participate to the project estimations.
  • Develop qualitative web-solutions related to Web solutions using Agile (SCRUM), test driven methodologies
  • Act as an active member to ensure high code quality (unit testing, regression tests,…) delivered in time and within budget.
  • Document the delivered code/solution
  • Perform development testing
  • Participate to the implementation of the releases following the Proximus change & management processes
  • Provide support to the operation team in case of major incidents for which engineering knowledge is required.
  • Provide solutions (bug fixes,…) for problem mgt.


Experience & expertise

  • University, or equivalent by experience,
  • At least 5 years of experience with JAVA web-based development
  • Profound knowledge of Spring framework and JAVA tooling and framework (Google GUAVA, spring, JUnit, commons). Knowledge of standard J2EE is an asset.
  • Hands-on experience with OO Design and design pattern
  • Experience with continuous integration and automated test & build
  • Hands-on experience with Agile development (Scrum) principles & methodologies
  • Following experiences are considered an asset:
o Experience in a telecom company
o SQL experience
o JBoss experience
o Working knowledge of html, css and javascript

Technical Skills

  • Knowledge and user experience with following tools:
o Eclipse / IntelliJ
o SVN / Sonar
o Spring data / JPA
o REST Level 3/ SOAP
o Maven
o Solr
o Thucydides / Jbehave (considered as an asset)
o Spring Hateaos / restdocs
o Spring Cloud / Netflix OSS stack
  • Ability to develop and test qualitative source code based on functional requirements in an Agile working environment
  • Strong skills in automation, continuous integration and unit and integration testing
  • Strong skills in design patterns, robust and high scalable software patterns.
  • Communication skills to be able to do TDD and pair programming.
  • Be able to document and maintain the new functionalities and guidelines of the platform
