Position purpose:

As a Research and Development Scientist, you will play a critical role within our multi-disciplinary team, working on the creation of next-generation HPLC chromatography products, with a particular focus on UHPLC, BioLC, and nanoLC products. Our work exists at the intersection of analytical chemistry, separation science, biochemistry and engineering.

In this role, you will work closely with other scientists and product marketing teams, brainstorming innovative approaches and solving complex problems. Our products serve a wide range of customers including the clinical, pharmaceutical, environmental, and regulatory industries.

Your primary responsibilities will include conducting research, designing experiments, and validating processes related to the manufacturing and testing of chromatography products. Additionally, you will provide vital inputs based on scientific experiments to enhance product development, ensure product applicability, and drive product improvements. Your contributions will be instrumental in advancing our analytical instrument technologies and supporting our mission to deliver high-quality products to our customers.

How Will You Get There?

KEY Responsibilities:

Apply conceptual and analytical knowledge to solve complex and diverse R&D challenges.
Collaborate with product managers and chemistry and applications team members to identify and design for required product technical properties to meet customer needs.
Plan, design and execute experiments, process data.
Present designs/specifications to the team for review and suggest potential design improvements or specific research opportunities.
Evaluate prototypes and products using customer-relevant methods and applications, ensruing alignment with customer needs and expectations.
Design, validate, and transfer processes for the manufacturing and testing of chromatography products, adhering to industry standards.
Document research findings and procedures accurately, ensuring data integrity and accessibility for future reference.
Manage inventory of existing supplies, initiate procurement for restocking as needed, and maintain equipment, reporting any disruptions or failures promptly.
Collaborate with R&D teams and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information.
Partner with cross-functional teams in identifying and selecting Lean Projects/Kaizen Events that are aligned to key business priorities.
Stay current with industry trends, technologies, market/customer needs, and advancements in analytical and separation science.
Proactively seek opportunities to advance competencies in the field of liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry, and apply them effectively.
Perform other responsibilities and tasks as assigned.

Requirements for qualification / Education / Experience:

A Bachelor's or Master's degree in physical or life sciences: Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Material Science, Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline is required.
A minimum of 1-5 years of experience (graduation thesis inclusive) in a similar role within a research and development environment is preferred.
Experience in a wet lab environment including the use of organic chemicals and fume hoods a plus.
Experience working in teams with multidisciplinary and diverse backgrounds.
Familiarity with Quality Management Systems such ISO9001 standards a plus.
Previous experience with liquid chromatography and/or mass-spectrometry is a plus.
Prior experience in protein, peptide, or nucleic acid analysis with HPLC and/or MS is a plus.
Ability to self-prioritize and work independently on multiple projects.
Must be flexible, able to self-prioritize and balance multiple projects simultaneously, and work efficiently to be able to satisfy specific timelines and results
The ability to design and complete experimental set-ups and assemble prototypes for testing is required
Excellent communication skills, and ability to summarize scientific results in a clear, concise, and accurate manner.
