DevOps/System Administrator at the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics

Currently, the team of the Digital Research and Computing Center of the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics of Vilnius University is inviting DevOps/System Administrators to work in the project on a full-time basis (term of the employment contract until 12/31/2027).

Design, customization, installation of the faculty's computer network, analysis and solution of computer network leakage problems in order to ensure data storage and access in accordance with FAIR principles
Administration, creation and management of users of the faculty's computer resources, ensuring the assignment of rights to store and publish data
Administration of cloud-based virtualization tools, creation of virtual machine templates for data exchange
Design, analysis and implementation of data exchange interfaces
Cooperation with other university departments in solving data exchange issues
Periodic updating of the software, installation of the software in the server infrastructure
Development of automated installation scripts for open and/or closed source operating systems
Ensuring the backup of data stored in the server infrastructure
Ensuring the legality of server software
Advising colleagues of the Digital Research and Computing Center and assigning tasks to them, ensuring functional leadership in solving registered incidents related to data storage issues
Documentation of the work performed in the work accounting systems used by the faculty
Preparation of software usage instructions in national and English languages
Writing IT equipment upgrade specifications for public procurement

You have a university degree or an equivalent master's degree in computer science or computer science engineering in the field of study of natural or technological sciences
You have at least 1 year of experience in administering Linux-type operating systems
You know LAN, WAN and other computer networks, NAT server customization
You know ActiveDir, LDAP user authentication protocols
You are familiar with server architectures, you know their structure and management methods
You have experience implementing fast/slow access data stores
You have experience using virtualization tools and implementing virtualized solutions (OpenNebula/OpenStack etc.)
Familiarity with containerization practices/tools (Kubernetes/Singularity, etc.)
You know good programming and configuration management practices: (Puppet/Ansible or others)
You know system security requirements, you have experience in managing a computer network ensuring data security
You are familiar with data recovery solutions and technologies
You know how to systematize and summarize information, you are able to fluently teach ideas in writing and orally, you plan work
You are able to communicate in the national and English languages

You have knowledge of the Luster file system
You have knowledge of Ceph datastore type architecture
You have knowledge of Dataverse type or other. open source web solutions for sharing, storing, citing, exploring and analyzing research data
