Representation and advocacy
- Together with the Board, form and implement the long-term strategy of the organization.
- Ensure that the organization's activities comply with the mission, values, principles of L'Arche International, and the tradition of spirituality of Kaunas Ark.
- Initiate new areas of activity, services, and organizational development.
Community Strengthening
- Foster a community culture based on respect for the dignity of every person.
- Ensure active participation of people with intellectual disabilities in community life and decision-making, guided by the principle of Nothing about us without us".
Quality of services
- Ensure that the activities of the Day Center, Living House and Social Workshops meet high quality standards, legal and licensing requirements.
- Strive for community members to live as independent, active and dignified a life as possible.
Financial sustainability
- Be responsible for the financial stability and sustainable development of the organization.
- Develop funding sources: state and municipal funding, EU projects, foundations, business partnerships, donor network, 1.2% GPM campaigns.
- Develop social business initiatives and seek new sources of income.
Organizational and team leadership
- Form a strong, motivated and professional team.
- Create a system for attracting and retaining volunteers.
Representation and advocacy
- Represent Kaunas Ark community and be its ambassador in state institutions, municipalities, the International Ark Federation, the NGO sector, the business community and the public space.
- Actively contribute to the protection of the rights of people with intellectual disabilities and the implementation of the principles and provisions of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
What do we expect from a leader?
- Higher university education.
- At least 3 years of leadership experience (experience in NGOs, social services, public sector or social business would be an advantage).
- Experience in financial management, project administration and fundraising.
- Ability to mobilize people, build partnerships and inspire a team.
- Excellent communication and public representation skills.
- Good knowledge of English.
- Value compatibility with the mission of Kaunas Arkas community.

Kaunas Arka is a 15-year-old community where people with intellectual disabilities and mental difficulties grow, learn, work and feel important in society. We belong to the International Federation of L'Arche, which unites over 160 communities in 38 countries. We operate three departments in Kaunas: Day Center, Living House and Social Workshop – 35 friends live, learn or receive services there every day. Also, the smooth operation of the organization is ensured by a team of 15 employees. The mission of the organization is to enable people with intellectual disabilities to reveal their potential through community.
