Chief Accountant

Avion Express is a narrow-body ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, Insurance) and charter operator. Avion Express provides top-level short and long-term aircraft wet-leasing (ACMI) solutions and also offers its clients aircraft on a charter basis. The company operates an Airbus A320 family aircraft fleet.

Avion Express is looking for ambitious professionals to support the company's matters and further development of the company. The position is based in Vilnius, Lithuania.

ARE YOU READY TO?

• Oversee and ensure the accuracy, compliance, and timeliness of all accounting operations across the organization.
• Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of accounting records while adhering to internal schedules.
• Supervise and support Accounting Team Leads and other key accounting personnel, fostering collaboration and professional development.
• Monitor compliance with local and international accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal company policies.
• Collaborate with and represent the company before government authorities.
• Act as the key contact for complex accounting issues, providing guidance on treatment of unusual or non-standard transactions.
• Drive improvements in accounting processes, internal controls, and system usage across departments.
• Oversee the preparation and submission of statutory financial statements, VAT reports, and other mandatory filings.
• Collaborate closely with the Finance team on budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis from the accounting perspective.
• Take responsibility for accounting-related projects, including system implementations, policy updates, and cross-departmental initiatives.
• Provide leadership and support to ensure alignment of accounting practices with the company’s overall financial strategy.

DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?

• Proven experience (5+ years) in accounting roles.
• University degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics is considered an advantage.
• In-depth knowledge of accounting standards (e.g., IFRS, local GAAP), tax regulations, and financial reporting requirements.
• Demonstrated success in managing accounting teams and coordinating month-end closing activities.
• Strong understanding of ERP systems (e.g., Business Central, Navision) and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with audits, system implementations, and accounting-related process improvements.
• Excellent organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to manage priorities under tight deadlines.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, both within the company and with external partners.
• Strategic mindset with a hands-on approach and attention to detail.
• Good understanding of written and spoken English.
