What sets our organization apart is our highly skilled, loyal, and dedicated team:
  • More than 95% of our employees would recommend Baltic Classifieds Group as a great place to work.
  • More than 95% of our employees are proud to work here.

We’re growing constantly and today are looking for an expert with a passion for building scalable, reliable, high-quality data solutions and defining data best practices across the company.

In this role you will own our data foundation from end to end—looking beyond basic data migrations and standard tables to design modern storage systems, build reliable streaming and batch pipelines, and clean up messy data. Just as importantly, you will define the company-wide standards and best practices for how we structure, store, and improve our data. Every team across the business will rely on the data products, architectures, and quality standards you create.

Responsibilities:

  • Pick the right database for each job: Design data structures across different database types instead of forcing everything into standard relational tables.
  • Work with NoSQL, Vector, and Graph databases: Set up and manage document and key-value stores (like MongoDB or Redis), vector databases for embeddings (like Qdrant, Pinecone, or pgvector), and graph databases for connected data (like Neo4j).
  • Choose smart data formats: Use modern file formats (like Parquet, Arrow, or Lance) so both structured and unstructured data are fast to store and read.
  • Build streaming and batch pipelines: Create reliable workflows for data migrations, daily batch jobs, and real-time data streams using tools that fit our actual data volume.
  • Clean up "data slop": Build automated filters to remove noisy, duplicate, or low-quality data before it enters our core systems.
  • Set company-wide best practices: Define clear standards for data formats, labels, and tracking so every department knows where our data comes from and can trust it.
  • Make data easy for everyone to use: Build clean APIs and shared data layers so teams across the organization can easily access the data, embeddings, and graphs they need.
  • Spot data problems early: Set up automated alerts and quality checks to catch broken pipelines or bad data before they impact the business.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Proven experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering or data architecture, with the confidence to lead our data setup and set best practices across the company.
  • Strong coding and querying skills: Solid everyday skills in Python and SQL, plus experience querying non-relational and graph databases.
  • Deep knowledge of modern databases: Practical experience working beyond standard SQL tables—including NoSQL (document and key-value stores), Vector databases (embeddings and search indexes), and Graph databases (nodes and relationships).
  • Pipelines, streaming, and file formats: Hands-on experience building batch and real-time data pipelines (such as Kafka, Spark, or Airflow) and working with modern storage formats (such as Parquet, Arrow, Lance, or JSON).
  • Passion for data quality: A strong habit of cleaning messy data, removing duplicates, and improving data structure rather than just moving raw data from place to place.
  • Good engineering habits and communication: Comfortable using Git, automated testing, and CI/CD tools, with the ability to explain data choices and best practices clearly to both technical and non-technical teams across the organization.
