We are building a new P&C insurance platform from scratch - and hiring our first Engineering Manager to make it happen. This is a hands-on, player-coach role where you will lead a small team, contribute code yourself, and implement an AI-first way of working that enables exceptional delivery, quality, and security.
Every day, you'll be #closer and:
- Build and lead a new engineering team, set priorities, mentor engineers, and drive technical decisions;
- Stay hands-on with Java 21+, Spring Boot, microservices, and PostgreSQL;
- Own the insurance platform from design to production, covering pricing, quotes, policies, renewals, payments, and claims-related workflows;
- Guide web and mobile development across React, Next.js, and Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP);
- Integrate banking, identity, payment, and insurance partner systems through REST, gRPC, and event-driven technologies such as Kafka or Azure Event Hubs;
- Establish AI-native workflows using coding agents, clear specifications, automated tests, code review, and security guardrails;
- Set up cloud-native delivery with Azure, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, GitOps, and observability;
- Embed security and compliance requirements, including GDPR, DORA, access control, and audit trails;
- Own scope, delivery risks, and dependencies, working directly with business leaders, bank IT, and external partners.
To be #closer, you'll need:
- Strong hands-on Java and Spring Boot experience, with a record of shipping production systems;
- Experience leading engineers, making architectural decisions, and owning delivery;
- Solid microservices, API, data modeling, PostgreSQL, cloud, and CI/CD knowledge;
- Practical experience shipping software with AI coding agents and setting quality-focused workflows;
- Experience integrating external systems and building secure, reliable applications;
- Ability to guide web and mobile engineering and communicate technical trade-offs clearly.
Nice to have:
- Insurance, fintech, banking, or other regulated-industry experience;
- Experience building a platform or team from scratch;
- Knowledge of P&C insurance and regulations such as IDD, DORA, and GDPR;
- Experience overseeing external development partners.
