Kaunas - Brain spot, MB

Nature of work

BrainSpot is a cozy learning space in Kaunas, where we want students to not only improve their knowledge, but also feel more courageous, more confident and not afraid to ask questions.

We are currently recruiting a mathematics teacher to join our team, who will work with students in grades 7–12.

Your main tasks:

1. Teach mathematics lessons to students in grades 7–12;
2. Work with small groups of students, therefore having the opportunity to observe each student and their individual needs;
3. Help students better understand the topics covered at school, fill in their knowledge gaps and prepare for assessments;
4. Prepare students for the NMPP, PUPP and VBE exams;
5. Monitor students' progress and help them consistently achieve their goals;
6. Encourage students to ask questions, not be afraid to make mistakes and to find solutions on their own;
7. Create a warm, safe and motivating atmosphere during lessons;
8. Cooperate with the BrainSpot team and together find the best solutions for our students.

It is important to us that a lesson is not just about solving problems at the board. We want the teacher to get to know their students, notice their strengths and difficulties and help everyone move forward at their own pace, building a connection.

Lessons take place live in the BrainSpot space in Kaunas, on weekdays in the afternoon and evening.

This is a part-time job, so it is convenient to combine it with studies, school work or other activities.

Employee requirements

We are looking for someone for whom mathematics is more than formulas and rules. It is important for us that the teacher is able not only to solve the problem, but also to patiently explain it to the student in a way that the student really understands.

We hope that you:

1. You have a good knowledge of the 7th-12th grade mathematics course;
2. You are able to explain more complex topics simply, clearly and understandably;
3. You know how to notice where the student is having difficulties and help him find the right learning method;
4. You are able to establish a connection with teenagers and create an environment where they are not afraid to ask questions or make mistakes;
5. You are patient, responsible, punctual and reliable;
6. You are able to independently plan a lesson and adapt to the different knowledge levels of students;
7. You want not only to teach, but also to motivate students and notice their progress;
9. You are open to collaboration, feedback and new ideas;
10. You want to grow with the emerging BrainSpot team.

We will consider it an advantage if you have experience in pedagogical work or tutoring, have worked with students in grades 7-12 or have experience in preparing students for NMPP, PUPP or VBE.

However, we are not only interested in your CV. If you are studying mathematics, pedagogy or another related field and feel that teaching is close to you - we will also look forward to your candidacy.

We are most looking for a warm, proactive and responsible person who cares not only about the student's result, but also about how the student feels while learning.
