THE ROLE: MID/SENIOR LASER R&D ENGINEER
We are looking for a Laser R&D Engineer to join our team in Vilnius. In this role, you will be at the forefront of developing next-generation laser sources and photonics systems. This is a hands-on position focused on research, prototyping, testing, and transforming ambitious concepts into reliable hardware that meets demanding defense requirements.

THE ROLE: MID/SENIOR LASER R&D ENGINEER
We are looking for a Laser R&D Engineer to join our team in Vilnius. In this role, you will be at the forefront of developing next-generation laser sources and photonics systems. This is a hands-on position focused on research, prototyping, testing, and transforming ambitious concepts into reliable hardware that meets demanding defense requirements.

IN THIS POSITION, YOU’LL
- Design, build, and test laser prototypes, including DPSS, fiber, and semiconductor-based laser systems, to achieve defined performance targets.
- Conduct laboratory experiments, optical alignments, and simulations to validate design concepts and improve laser stability, power scaling, and efficiency.
- Develop and execute laser characterization procedures, including measurements of power, spectral properties, beam quality, and thermal performance.
- Document experimental results, analyze data, iterate designs, and contribute to the company's internal knowledge base.
- Collaborate closely with mechanical, electrical, and systems engineers to ensure robust integration of laser systems into UAV, handheld, and vehicle-mounted platforms.
- Participate in technical reviews, innovation workshops, and design discussions with the CTO and multidisciplinary R&D teams.
- Monitor scientific publications, patents, and industry developments to support ongoing product innovation and technological advancement.
ABOUT YOU
- Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in Physics, Photonics, Optics, Laser Engineering, or a related field.
- Practical experience working with laser systems, including solid-state, fiber, or semiconductor lasers.
- Strong hands-on laboratory skills, including optical alignment, system assembly, troubleshooting, and experimental validation.
- Knowledge of laser diagnostics and characterization techniques using equipment such as spectrometers, power meters, oscilloscopes, and beam analysis tools.
- Familiarity with laser safety standards and laboratory best practices.
- Experience with optical design and simulation tools such as Zemax, COMSOL, MATLAB, Python, or similar software is considered an advantage.
- Strong analytical thinking, persistence, and a solution-oriented approach to solving complex technical challenges.
- Excellent written and spoken English skills for technical documentation and collaboration in an international environment.
- Ability to work independently, take ownership of tasks, and effectively manage priorities in a fast-paced R&D setting.

SALARY
3000 – 5000 EUR gross. The final offer will depend on your specific competencies and professional experience.
