DGW GROUP FINANCE INC is seeking a knowledgeable and commercially minded Money Laundering Reporting Officer to support the development, implementation and oversight of its Canadian anti-money laundering, anti-terrorist financing and sanctions compliance framework. The successful candidate will also serve as, or work in the capacity of, the Company’s designated FINTRAC Compliance Officer.

Perfect Candidate:

The MLRO will be responsible for supporting the design, implementation and ongoing oversight of DGW GROUP FINANCE INC’s Canadian AML/ATF and sanctions compliance framework. The successful candidate will act as the Company’s designated FINTRAC Compliance Officer and will help ensure that the Company’s foreign exchange, money transfer, virtual currency and payment-service activities are conducted in accordance with Canadian regulatory requirements.

The role requires a high degree of professional integrity, independence and sound judgment. The successful candidate must be comfortable working remotely in a growing business and should be willing to take on increasing responsibility as the Company expands. The position will initially require approximately 10–15 hours per week, with the expectation that it may develop into a full-time role as the Company’s Canadian and international activities grow.

Required Qualifications & Experience:
  • University degree in law, finance, economics, compliance, business administration or a related field.
  • At least some experience in AML/ATF compliance, regulatory compliance or financial crime prevention, preferably within:
  • Money services businesses
  • Banks or financial institutions
  • FinTech or payment institutions
  • Foreign exchange or cross-border payment businesses
  • Virtual currency or blockchain-based service providers
  • Knowledge of the Canadian AML/ATF legal framework, including the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act, applicable regulations and FINTRAC guidance.
  • Practical experience with customer due diligence, beneficial ownership, client risk assessments, ongoing monitoring, suspicious transaction reporting, large transaction reporting, sanctions screening and recordkeeping.
  • Understanding of the risks associated with cross-border payments, foreign exchange, virtual currency, payment orchestration, emerging markets and complex corporate clients.
  • Experience preparing regulatory reports, internal investigations, risk assessments and compliance documentation.
  • Ability to act independently, challenge business decisions where necessary and maintain high ethical and professional standards.
  • Excellent analytical, drafting, organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work remotely, manage responsibilities independently and respond promptly to urgent compliance matters.
  • Fluency in English is required; knowledge of French or another language relevant to the Company’s international markets would be an advantage.
  • CAMS, CFCS or another recognized AML or financial-crime qualification would be an advantage.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Establish, maintain, and continuously improve the company’s AML/CFT policies, procedures, and internal controls in accordance with:

  • Acting as the Company’s designated FINTRAC Compliance Officer and primary internal contact for AML/ATF, sanctions and financial-crime compliance matters.
  • Implementing, maintaining and periodically updating the Company’s AML/ATF compliance program, policies, procedures and risk assessments.
  • Conduct and update the enterprise-wide AML/CFT risk assessment, including customer, product, geographic, and transaction risk.
  • Oversee and monitor customer due diligence (CDD), enhanced due diligence (EDD), and ongoing monitoring processes.
  • Review, assess, and submit suspicious transaction/activity reports (STRs/SARs) to the regulatory authority.
  • Ensure effective transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, and PEP screening processes are in place.
  • Provide AML/CFT training and awareness programs to management and staff.
  • Advise the management body on AML/CFT risks, regulatory developments, and compliance obligations.
  • Prepare periodic AML/CFT reports for senior management and, where applicable, the board.
  • Ensure independence of the MLRO function and timely escalation of material issues.
