Coordinator of scientific activities of the scientific activities department
Employee requirements
The employee holding this position must meet the following special requirements:
- have at least a higher university education with a master's degree or equivalent (in the field of natural sciences, veterinary medicine, agriculture, biomedicine);
- have at least 1 year of experience working in the scientific sector or in science-related matters;
- be able to work and organize scientific work;
- have a good knowledge of the nature and goals of zoo activities, be familiar with the laws of the Republic of Lithuania on education and international education systems and other regulatory acts regulating scientific research activities; must be familiar with the European Association of Zoos and Aquariums (EAZA) standards for keeping and caring for animals in zoos;
- speak English at the advanced B2 user level;
- be able to work with a computer, Microsoft Office software package, statistical computing and other necessary programs;
- be able to do research work, be able to work with various devices necessary for work;
- be able to analyze and summarize information, be able to fluently present thoughts orally and in writing;
- must be dutiful, hardworking, businesslike, knowledgeable in communication psychology and professional ethics.

- plans, organizes and controls scientific activities;
- provides methodological and informational assistance, ensures the quality of scientific research activities, prepares scientific articles;
- collects theoretical and practical scientific information about the biology of zoo animals, living conditions in freedom and their keeping in captivity. Cooperates with employees of Lithuanian and foreign zoos and other institutions of a similar profile, exchanges information. Analyzes and summarizes the collected scientific and practical information, publishes it;
- provides interested employees with proposals based on scientific information when drawing up animal feeding rations, shares information on the formation of animal behavior;
- prepares work plans, reports;
- participates in conferences, courses, seminars and other events to improve qualifications, follows the latest literature and other sources of information in the field of animal biology and uses them in their work;
- according to the duty schedule approved by the director, which sets the duty and rest days of the responsible employees on duty for the calendar month, is on duty on holidays and holidays to properly organize and supervise the course of work;
- within the competence and upon the director's instruction, represents the institution in state and municipal institutions, other institutions, conferences, seminars, exhibitions, participates in the activities of commissions and working groups;
- carries out other tasks and / or assignments of the direct manager and director of a non-permanent nature related to the work performed.
