QA Automation Lead

The bank that is closer to everyone – yes, that’s us! We are building a new digital bank from scratch, and we are looking for a QA Automation Lead to build our QA automation setup from day one.

As our first QA Automation Lead, you will take ownership of how quality is built into the platform across backend and mobile. You will define the testing approach, choose the right tools, and stay hands-on by building automation yourself.

Every day, you'll be #closer and:

• Define the QA and test automation strategy from the ground up.
• Build and evolve automation across backend/API (Java 21+, Spring Boot) and mobile (Kotlin Multiplatform - testing both iOS and Android behavior from one shared codebase).
• Establish regression, end-to-end and smoke coverage, and extend it to web as the web product comes online.
• Drive API and contract testing, plus performance and stress testing.
• Integrate automated testing into CI/CD (GitHub Actions) and into the way the team works day to day.
• Use AI tooling to generate, maintain and scale test suites - and set the standard for how the team does it.
• Challenge the development team on testability, failure modes and release readiness.
• Contribute to running services at 99.99% availability - resilience, failover and degradation scenarios are part of testing, not an afterthought.
• Make technical decisions on QA tooling, automation and test architecture.
• Lead by example and mentor engineers on testing and automation practices.

To be #closer, you'll need:

• Strong track record in test automation across more than one layer - backend and mobile, or backend and web.
• Backend/API testing in the JVM ecosystem: JUnit 5, REST Assured (or Karate), Testcontainers, Spring Boot Test.
• Contract testing with Pact (or Spring Cloud Contract).
• Mobile automation covering both iOS and Android - Appium, Maestro, or the native frameworks (XCUITest, Espresso); Kotlin/KMP test tooling is a strong plus.
• Performance and stress testing with k6, Gatling or JMeter.
• CI/CD pipeline integration - GitHub Actions preferred, any modern equivalent works.
• Experience building automation frameworks or test infrastructure from scratch.
• Practical, daily use of AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor or similar) in your own work.
• Cloud-native environment experience - we run on Azure / AKS.
• Ability to work independently and own complex QA initiatives.
