A Senior DevOps / Platform Engineer is needed to design and implement a comprehensive, secure infrastructure and CI/CD framework across all of the client’s digital products. The client already has a DevOps engineer who is capable on hands on delivery but is not in a position to lead, advise on best practice, or present strategic options. The person must be capable of presenting comparative analysis, options appraisal, and framework designs to support making architectural decisions, not just tooling implementation. They will act as the senior DevOps voice the client currently lacks, mentor the existing engineer, and ensure DevOps does not become a single point of dependency.

The client operates in a regulated healthcare environment handling sensitive patient data, so a security first mindset is non-negotiable.

We follow a remote-first setup with no mandatory regular office visits for this position. From time to time, you may be invited to join in-person meetings in our office in Vilnius, for example for client visits or team reunions.

Responsibilities

  • Translate the client’s conceptual vision into concrete, implementable architecture, presenting options with clear trade-offs rather than single prescriptive answers
  • Provide clear, well-reasoned definitions and architectural decision records that the team can act on without extensive review cycles
  • Act as the senior technical voice on DevOps and platform strategy, communicating confidently with the Architecture team and CTO
  • Define the universal infrastructure architecture with security as the primary design driver. Quality and clarity of definition take priority over implementation speed
  • Design and implement a consistent CI/CD framework covering all of the client’s products, including: security scanning, SAST/DAST, secret detection, and vulnerability management with no bypass possible; quality gates and automated testing enforcement, including unit, integration, and dependency checks; static code analysis and linting baked into the pipeline rather than bolted on; container image scanning and signed/attested build provenance
  • Design and enable the teams to operate ephemeral environments for performance testing, penetration testing, UAT, and other non-static needs, with reliable stand up and tear down
  • Define and implement secrets management, identity, and least privilege access across the platform
  • Establish observability standards (logging, metrics, tracing, alerting) and incident response tooling
  • Enable and upskill individual product teams so they can contribute to and own their own pipelines safely within guard rails
  • Advise on architecture decisions affecting platform, deployment, and runtime

Requirements:

  • Demonstrable senior level experience leading DevOps or platform engineering in a comparable environment, including presenting options and rationale to senior technical stakeholders
  • Deep, hands on Azure expertise across compute, networking, identity, and platform services. Specifically: Azure compute options (App Service, Container Apps, AKS, Functions); Azure networking (VNets, Private Endpoints, Application Gateway, WAF, network segregation patterns); Azure identity and access (Entra ID, managed identities, RBAC); Azure Key Vault, Azure Monitor, Log Analytics
  • Strong containerisation experience: Docker, image hardening, multi-stage builds, registry management, and orchestration (AKS or Azure Container Apps)
  • Security first mindset with demonstrable experience embedding security into pipelines and infrastructure
  • Infrastructure as Code at scale (Terraform or Bicep), including module design, state management, and policy as code (e.g. Azure Policy, OPA)
  • GitHub Actions and Azure DevOps Pipelines, including reusable workflows, environment protection rules, and self-hosted runners where appropriate
