The Bank of Lithuania contributes to the formulation and implementation of monetary policy within the Eurosystem and provides analysis that supports high-level policy discussions and decision-making.

We are looking for a Senior Economist to join our Monetary Policy team. In this role, you will analyse monetary policy developments, prepare high-quality analytical materials and contribute to the development of the Bank of Lithuania’s position on key monetary policy issues.

The position offers an opportunity to work on matters of direct relevance to euro area monetary policy, collaborate with experienced economists and senior decision-makers, and contribute to evidence-based policy analysis in a central banking environment.

Key responsibilities:

• Prepare analytical materials, briefings and presentations to support senior decision-makers in monetary policy discussions.
• Conduct in-depth analysis of topical monetary policy and macroeconomic issues.
• Assess economic and policy developments relevant to monetary policy decisions and contribute to the formulation of the Bank of Lithuania’s position.
• Prepare clear, evidence-based recommendations and policy assessments.
• Coordinate the preparation of responses, analytical inputs and other materials related to monetary policy matters.
• Contribute to the preparation of materials for institutional and public communication on monetary policy issues.
• Represent the Bank of Lithuania, where required, in national and international working-level discussions related to monetary policy.
• Cooperate closely with colleagues across the Bank of Lithuania and contribute to the effective delivery of the team’s priorities.

What we expect from you:

• A Master’s degree in economics, finance, econometrics, statistics, applied mathematics or another closely related quantitative field. A PhD in economics or a related field is strongly preferred.
• At least 3 years of professional experience in economic policy analysis, monetary policy, macroeconomic analysis or a closely related field.
• Strong knowledge of macroeconomic theory and a sound understanding of monetary policy.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to independently assess complex economic and policy issues.
• Ability to prepare high-quality analytical materials, policy assessments and recommendations.
• Ability to communicate economic analysis clearly and concisely, both in writing and verbally.
• Ability to present analytical findings to expert and senior-level audiences.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
