International Environmental Policy Expert EU Presidency

We are looking for a curious, analytical and responsible person who is interested in European Union and international environmental policy and who wants to contribute to the Lithuanian Presidency of the Council of the EU in 2027. We hope that you will be able to independently analyze complex policy and legislative issues, see their broader context and clearly convey your insights in Lithuanian and English. In this position, not only the ability to work with information and prepare documents is important, but also the courage to represent Lithuania, cooperate with EU institutions, representatives of other countries and international organizations and seek solutions that help shape Lithuania's position. You will contribute to Lithuania's preparation for the EU Council Presidency in 2027 - you will analyse EU and international environmental policy issues, especially in the areas of nature protection, soil and combating desertification. You will prepare Lithuanian positions, proposals and other documents in Lithuanian and English, participate in working groups and meetings of EU and international organisations. You will represent the Ministry in interactions with representatives of the European Commission, the EU Council, other states and international organisations, and you will also contribute to the organisation of visits by international delegations and the coordination of Lithuania's positions.

We expect you to have:

• higher university education in law, political science or geology, physical geography, biology, ecology or environmental studies;
• B2 level English;
• good skills in working with Microsoft Office programs;
• knowledge of EU coordination, environmental and climate policy, especially nature protection, regulatory legal acts;
• ability to analyze, systematize and summarize information and draw conclusions;
• ability to independently plan and organize your work;
• excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to draft documents and legal acts.

2500 €/mon. gross
Fixed-term employment contract until June 30, 2027.
