Kaunas Fort IX Museum is today one of the largest monumental sites in Europe. This unique 50-hectare area is a memorial complex consisting of a mass murder site and a cemetery and a monument to the victims of Nazism during World War II.
The museum presents the traumatic experiences of mid-20th-century Lithuania in an authentic space that allows visitors to get involved, learn about and better understand the significance of this important stage in history. It is a place of peace, which is not limited to the passive presentation of cultural values, but aims to educate the public and promote historical awareness through various cultural activities.
The museum constantly strives to meet the expectations and needs of all visitors: not only does it open expositions and exhibitions, research and prepare publications, offer excursions and educational programs, but also invites to events and various initiatives that offer to understand complex historical events in both traditional and non-traditional ways of knowing. The professional museum team always strives to provide each museum visitor with an experience that meets their expectations. The infrastructure is constantly being improved in order to ensure the highest level of services that meet the needs of visitors and are developed even more widely.
