We are a small family business that believes that barefoot footwear is the perfect solution for both children and adults. Why do we believe this? Our family started wearing barefoot shoes and we realized that it has many advantages. Since then, we have decided to promote the wearing of barefoot footwear in Lithuania and other countries.

Why are barefoot shoes the most suitable for your children?

Many parents understand that children should not wear high heels, but what about our usual footwear - sandals or sneakers? Many experts currently say that the best footwear for children is none, i.e. it is best to walk barefoot. Of course, this is difficult to implement - but there is a solution. We invite you to familiarize yourself with the benefits of barefoot footwear for your children.

Tracy Byrne, a podiatrist who specializes in podopaediatrics, believes that wearing shoes too young can hinder a child's walking and brain development. "Barefoot babies are less likely to lower their heads," she says. "The feedback they get from walking barefoot means they need to look down less." For these reasons, they manage to keep their balance better and not fall over. Walking barefoot trains the muscles and ligaments of the foot, increases arch strength, improves proprioception (our sense of where we are in relation to the space around us) and contributes to good posture.

"We think that the way we live in shoes all the time is normal and natural," says health educator John Woodward, who has been wearing barefoot shoes since 1995. "But it's not natural. Of course, we currently live in a different environment and are not hunter-gatherers. Our urban environment is full of "unnatural" hazards. It should be remembered that historically, footwear was designed to protect the soles of the feet only at certain moments. It was a temporary shoe."

in 2007 research published in the podiatry journal The Foot suggests that structural and functional changes may occur as a result of the foot having to adapt to the shape and constriction of the shoe rather than developing naturally. And the younger the foot, the greater the damage. A baby's foot is not a miniature version of an adult's foot, as there are no bones in it. A baby's foot consists of a mass of cartilage that ossifies over time to become the 28 bones found in the adult foot. This process continues until late adolescence, so choosing the right footwear is very important.

Most children's shoes are too hard, too stiff, no flexibility in the sole and too high in the heel. Such common footwear makes it difficult for little ones to walk and correct their balance.

Podiatrist Mike O'Neill is convinced that too many parents today value design and fashion more than ergonomics when buying shoes for their children. Despite this, shoe manufacturers should also take some responsibility - when parents see the usual children's shoes on the store shelf, they don't even think that these shoes can harm the development of children's feet. "Shoes aren't necessary when it comes to functionality," says Mike O'Neill, pointing out that there are probably more downsides to wearing footwear than benefits, e.g. malformation of the foot due to improper shoe size, ingrown toenails or athlete's foot.

Considering the fact that society currently lives in a rather dirty environment, wearing shoes is still necessary to maintain proper hygiene. Then we all have a choice - to wear not very suitable footwear or barefoot shoes, which will allow your feet to enjoy freedom. In our online store, you can buy European-made barefoot footwear of various models and sizes. A wide selection of manufacturers - Be Lenka, Barebarics, 3F, Froddo, Magical Shoes will allow everyone to choose.

However, do not forget that walking barefoot or wearing barefoot shoes is extremely beneficial for children. This will help the muscles of children's feet and legs to form properly, give the skin a chance to breathe, and feeling the ground under their feet will help them learn to walk.
